Organisations and projects

This page lists organisations and projects that support the use of research methods.

Australian and New Zealand Institute for Information Literacy (ANZIIL) have some resources for research at  including conference presentations.  ANZIIL have a research group which is, for example, working on a publication about doing information literacy research.

Computer Assisted Data Analysis Networking Project.
Note: They are funded by the Economic & Social Research Council (ESRC) to provide support concerning use of text analysis software, cognitive mapping software etc. for qualitative research. There is an online bibliography on the website, information on software, and details of their training events.

ESRC National Centre for Research Methods
The website includes working papers, e.g. a literature review on “informed consent”, a newsletter, list of events, and information on projects to do with research methods.

ESRC Research methods programme
Note: They are focusing on some specific methods, not necessarily ones which seem most obviously relevant to information literacy. However, social network analysis is covered, for example. There is an events diary listing training courses and seminars concerning social science research methods.

Library and Information Research Group (LIRG)

Despite the large “you may need to be a CILIP member” sign that comes up when you go to the website, you can access most parts of this site without a password, including issues of Library and Information Research News (except the most recent issue). LIRG organises training events and talks from time to time.

The resource list was originally complied by Sheila Webber.  Updated February 2007.
