Essential Skills seminar 1: Information Literacy: Getting to grips with the Google Generation.
Workshop leaders: Dr Jane Secker, Librarian, Centre for Learning Technology, London School of Economics and Marcus Woolley, Deputy Librarian, University of Luton.
Further info: This workshop-based session is aimed at staff new to information literacy. It provides some valuable basics on what information literacy is, how it relates to other 'digital literacies' and how it applies across the library sectors.
The session is led by Jane Secker from the LSE, who is one of the editors of the Information Literacy Cookbook, published by Chandos this year. It should provide plenty of food for thought and tips for planning a good training session, however, participants should also be prepared for group activities and stimulating discussion!
When: Wednesday 7th November 2007 (6pm - 8pm)
