There are a vast amount of resources available on the web designed to help you enhance your teaching skills. Below are jsut a few that the CSG Information Literacy Group thought you might find particularly useful.InfoTeach is an excellent way to share best practice in information literacy teaching. The Infoteach Wikki was developed by Chris Powis. InfoTeach is a community resource about teaching and learning, but specifically designed for those involved in teaching information literacy. So if you wish to learn something about teaching or to share your experince, visit InfoTeach.
The Handbook for Information Literacy Teaching (HILT) is designed to support subject librarians at Cardiff University to develop their information literacy teaching. It is available for re-purposing under te Creative Commons Licence.
Library instruction wiki the Oregon Library Instruction wiki. It is a collaboratively developed resource for librarians involved with or interested in instruction. All librarians and others interested in library instruction are welcome and encouraged to contribute.
e-Learning for Librarians: An Ideas Playground is a wiki designed by Corrine Laverty to share ideas on the design and development of e-learning tools for information literacy. All are encouraged to contribute.
Classroom Instruction in Facebook is a global umbrella Facebook group devoted to libraries that use Facebook to complement and/or supplement formal library class instruction sessions. A particular focus of the group is the use of Facebook in association with basic library skills courses.
Inspiring Learning for All outlines what an accessible and inclusive museum, archive or library that stimulates and supports learning looks like. The Inspiring for all website invites you to:
- Find out what the people that use your services learn
- Assess how well you are achieving best practice in supporting learning
- Improve what you do
Limes project - Developing a module on Information literacy. Authored by Barbara Chivers these learning objects are designed to offer guidance to tutors interested in developing a module on Information Literacy. It includes suggested aims and learning outcomes and guidance is given on suggested content, use of assignments, exercises and workshops.
LolliPop is an online tutorial that aims to ehance the information literacy skills of enquiry desk staff that work in libraries. LolliPop builds on the work of POP-I (see below for more information). Tutorials have been developed for the Higher Education sector and others are currently in development. The tutorials are available under the Creative Commons Licence and showcases are available for you to review. A guest username and password is available from the site.
Making your teaching inclusive has been created by the Open University. The site has practical advice about teaching inclusively and will also help you meet the requirements of the Disability Discrimination Act. It will give you an insight into what study is like for disabled students, and what you can do to make a difference."
PBS Teacherline is a US resource aimed at teachers. It provides an opportunity for Continuing Professional Development through online learning, including a course entitled "Building Critical Thinking Skills for Online Research".
Strategies for Creating Inclusive Programmes of Study (SCIPS) is a resource for teachers and trainers that offers strategies for promoting inclusive teaching, learning and assessment within programmes of study taught at degree level.
Teachernetis an educational website for teachers and school managers in the UK. It provides guidance on all aspects of education. Including:
