Qualifications
Masters in Information Literacy is available from the University of Sheffield.
The Department of Information Science at Loughborough University are offering a Masters degree in Library and Information Management. One core module, part of a two semester module on Information Needs and Use, covers the teaching and learning of information literacy. It is a practical course that will result in students being able to design and teach information literacy. The course covers: definitions of IL; learning theory; teaching and learning environments (face to face, blended, e-learning); evaluation of IL, learning outcomes and assessment. How to teach aspects of IL are explored in detail including: defining information needs, identifying and accessing resources and capturing, using and communicating information. For their coursework students work in groups to develop an IL intervention. Last year a range of creative ideas, that were both engaging and practical, were developed by the students for teaching IL to young adults, HE students, lawyers and the public to name a few.For further information contact: Dr. Mark Hepworth m.hepworth@lboro.ac.uk or check out the Department website at http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/dis/
