I am one of the web editors of the IL website. The website editorial team is a sub-group of the CILIP Information Literacy Group.
When did you join and why?
Before I started at my current college we didn’t have any information literacy teaching so this is something that I’m keen to develop. As a solo librarian I don’t have anyone to discuss information literacy with so I thought this would be a good way to stay up-to-date with trends and current research.
What do you do in your role?
I’ve only just started as a Web Editor so I’m still finding out exactly what my role will be! So far I’ve been looking at what we can do to improve the content of the website.
What is your day job?
I’m Library Manager at Plumpton College, a land-based FE college in Sussex. I’ve been working at Plumpton since July 2016 and this is my first qualified role. I’m responsible for the day-to-day running of the library, acquisitions, systems and of course information literacy. Before this I was completing an MA in Librarianship at the University of Sheffield.
What are your other interests?
My workplace is in the middle of the beautiful Sussex Downs, and the surroundings have given me the push to give running a try. I’m doing the NHS Couch to 5k programme so three evenings a week after work I can be found jogging (very slowly) in the Downs. I’ve also developed a bit of a passion for holidays to Nordic countries. Over the past few years I’ve been lucky enough to visit Denmark, Norway and Iceland, but there is still a long list of places I would like to visit.
